It all began in 1955 when four brothers, John, Merv, Ron and George Gillmer, joined their father, Eleaser, to build a kitchen business founded on hard work and quality. Since then, family values and craftsmanship have been at the heart of Gillmer Kitchens.
In 1981, Jim Gillmer joined the family business, learning from his grandfather and great-uncles and carrying forward their vision with the same dedication. When Jim founded Hats Off Kitchens in 2005 and moved back to the Central Coast, the family legacy expanded further. Today, working within the family business are, Jim, Jenna (Jim’s daughter) & Tim (Jim’s son), continuing a family tradition that spans five generations and has involved more than 30 family members over the years.

Gillmer Kitchens was established in the Sydney Northern Beaches in 1995. When Jim moved to the Central Coast in 2005, he established Hats Off Kitchens to service the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Newcastle. Both businesses are run from our head office in Charmhaven NSW and together, they share over 150 years of combined experience and expertise in kitchen design and renovation.
